This attack should be no surprise to those who understand prophecy and current events. Radical Islamists want to destroy Israel and make Jerusalem their world capitol and then force everyone in the world to follow Islam or be killed. The Daniel 11 prophecy also indicates that Israel gets in serious trouble and needs help from the King of the North Alliance, which is Papal-led Christianity and the USA. We think of it as the west. It is no surprise that Hamas attacked Israel. I have also been saying that the radical left and radical Islamists are time of the end allies. The October 7 attack has clearly proven this to be true.
